Serena Williams is fined a whopping $2,000 for blasting a U.S. Open umpire -- did she deserve to be punished ... even though her rant was NOWHERE near John McEnroe territory?

Plus, did the Jackson family REALLY plan on helping Michael Jackson escape the country if he'd been convicted of child molestation? Michael's former attorney tells us a much different ... and more interesting story.

And, George Stephanopoulos may be on the chopping block at "GMA" because of his height -- so does size really matter ... on television? We happen to have a couple of experts.

(8:55) Serena Williams was fined a whopping $2,000 for arguing with a U.S. Open umpire  -- fair punishment?
(11:10) Serena's insults -- so civilized.
(17:00) For comparison's sake -- one of John McEnroe's rants. Why are his tantrums funny and Serena's aren't?
(24:10) Jermaine Jackson claims his family was planning on helping MJ flee the country if he was convicted of child molestation. No one seems to believe a word of it.
(30:08) George Stephanopoulos may be replaced on "GMA" because he's so much shorter than Robin Roberts. Unfair?
(34:20) Does the George/Robin height difference really matter?
(41:01) Charles: No "self-respecting news man" would stand on a soapbox.
(44:10) Do tall people have an advantage in life?
(56:30) Mel Gibson, Kim K. and controversy at MJ's old crib.

She threatened the reff, so yes, the punishment does fit the crime.

Comparing Serena's threats to John's outbursts are apples and oranges. This is a new, much more dangerous era and threats should not be tolerated.

Instead of killing time during the Sirius commercials, could Harvey and Charles use time to answer questions like the old days?

$2000? to a multi millionaire? This for threatening an official while on probation for threatening another official? What is wrong with this picture? That compares to a parking ticket. Stop comparing to McEnroe, he was punished much harsher and he never threatened anyone!

Jermaine Jackson should stick to childrens books. There the fantastical tales are almost believable.

John McEnroe did the same thing and it was thought of as funny and endearing

McEnroe was a kinder, gentler baby tantrum thrower. He didn't actually threaten anybody. Plus, the organization has, over the decades since JM had his prime exploits, said they wanted a more professional and polished image. Well, here you go. No double standard - 1992 old tennis, 2011, new tennis that doesn't tolerate left-handed threats.

Did you hear Mac say "I hate you"? Hate you is very threatening. And using the low controlled voice - give me a break. Serena is playing you Harvey!

You asked if Serena's behaviour disgraced America? Sometimes American's don't realize that (generally) other nationalities frequently view Americans as being loud and mouthy. Serena said something about 'This is America' in regards to freedom of speech etc, whatever! But many other nationalities find this frequent need to sound off as being rude and having an inability to shut up. Serena maybe forgot that from the non-American side of the fence, her behaviour just looked disrespectful on 9/11 - that she couldn't control her mouth and played the "I'm American" card on a day when she should have shown a little more restraint. She wanted to win - great! But no reason to act like a spoiled brat.

escapades like this set an example for junior players to rip into officials. the punishment should be harsh to discourage future outbursts.
other sports punish players for outbursts on officials, this should be the same.

Serena got off waayyyy to easy. Only $2,000 for that? Hello, she threatened the lady...and it wasn't the first time. You cannot compare what she's done to what McEnroe did. She should have been fined at least $75,000-$100,000 plus get suspended for at least one tournament.

I agree. I thought "boy, is he short" Then I put myself in that picture and realized that George would be looking down at me! I'm only 5 ft.
